What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions are a temporary way to enhance your lashes by applying individual synthetic or natural (typically mink) fibers to each individual natural eyelash. The result is a completely customized, beautiful set of eyelashes. They are painless, virtually weightless, and save you time in the morning because you can skip the dreaded curler and mascara routine!
Do extensions damage your natural lashes?
No! When applied correctly by a properly trained lash artist, eyelash extensions will ABSOLUTELY NOT damage your natural lashes. Make sure you ask your artist plenty of questions and you feel comfortable before proceeding. You and your eyes are precious!
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLASSIC AND VOLUME LASHES?
Classic lashes are lash extensions placed with a 1:1 ratio of extension to natural lash. The end result is a dark lash line, and the illusion of thick, dark eyelashes.
Volume lashes are lash extensions that are made into customized fans. These fans consist of two or more finer lash extensions applied to the base of one natural lash. The end result is a dark lash line, with hundreds of fluffy lashes.
HOW LONG do Eyelash extensions LAST?
Applied properly, extensions can last for several weeks. Keep in mind that we typically lose anywhere from 2-6 natural lashes per day, so although the adhesive retention can last up to eight weeks, your lashes could begin to look sparse after two to three. It depends on your natural lash density, the rate in which your lashes shed, and your home care. Most clients return for fills every two to four weeks.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
On the day of your first appointment, please arrive around five to ten minutes early to fill out some paperwork. We strongly suggest to come showered and with absolutely no makeup or skincare products around the eye area. Please do not schedule your lash appointment directly before a facial, massage, or sweaty exercise class—you want to avoid getting your fresh extensions wet for at least 24 hours as the adhesive needs time to cure to ensure optimum adhesion.
Why do you have to “evaluate” My lashes if i had them done elsewhere?
As mentioned previously, when applied correctly, eyelash extensions will not damage your natural lashes. Unfortunately, there are places that do not apply extensions safely or correctly. If your extensions have ever been painful, itchy, or come off with several natural lashes, there may be a problem with your current set. When we evaluate your extensions, we check to see that they are isolated properly, the extensions they are using are an appropriate length (weight) for your natural lashes, and that they are using a proper amount of adhesive. If we see something wrong upon evaluation, we may suggest a removal and reapplication of a new set.
HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF my new extensions?
The best thing you can do to prolong the life of your extensions is to keep them clean. We recommend using an oil-free foaming baby shampoo.
Avoid touching them with unwashed fingers, over-brushing them (especially if they aren’t clean, as you will be brushing your natural oils through your lashes, which will break down the adhesive), and blow-drying them. Allow your extensions to air dry, or carefully dab under them with a tissue, then fluff your lashes and you're ready to go!
